Dangerous D - 3

Dana sat in the dressing room, examining the card. It had a textured finish with Lynnette’s name embossed in gold on the top-right corner. Her number was equally fancy. Must have cost Dave a fortune to get this. She exhaled through her mouth as she flipped her phone open and punched in the number. She used to hang out in the backstage corridor whenever she was here. But Dana never had much of a conversation with her before but she remembered that few of the ladies started calling her the little princess and it stuck. Wonder why they called her that?  The most striking feature of the otherwise plain girl, Dana remembered, was her height. Something she inherited from her grandpa. The ring of the phone at the other end shook her out of her reverie. And she loves girls, another one of her grandfather’s traits.

‘Hello?’

'Hi, Lyn. It’s me, Dana. Your grandfather asked me to call you. Said you had a job for me.'

'Dana! Hope Grand-Dave didn’t force ya', Lynnette gave a small chuckle.

'Nah, but he did make a very convincing argument though.' The monetary kind, she added to herself.

'The party isn’t till Ten but could you be ready by Six?'

'Six? That kinda early.'

'I got some dress over at my place that I want you to try on, you know make sure they fit.'

'Oh, that would be nice.' Her own wardrobe was quite exhaustive but if the rich girl wants to dress me up, sure.

‘K. I’ll pick up at your place. Bye.’

‘Bye, Lynnette.’ But she had cut the call before Dana even got to finish it. She’s Dave sans the dick.

Dylan was playing with his toys when Lucy turned up at her house at Five.

‘Thank you so much for comin’ over Lucy’, Dana greeted the other girl inside.

‘You got Dave to thank for this. Where’s little D?’ Lucy took off her black leather jacket and let it hang by the door.

‘Dylan’s playing in the living room. He knows I’m going out tonight so he should be alright. There’s some pizza in the fridge, few cans of beer and some orange juice, if you are hungry. And please, don’t let him stay awake after Eight Thirty.’

‘No probs. Does he still likes his bedtime stories?’

‘Yeah, his class’s reading the Gingerbread Man. I’ve got a copy by his bedside. You can crash in my room for the night.’

‘So, you are really doing this, are you?’

‘The money’s good and besides Lynnette’s just a girl. Should be easy, right?’

‘I don’t know. She’s still David’s granddaughter.’

Lucy just voiced Dana’s own misgivings. ‘It’s just some party she wants me to tag along with. I guess she needs me there as an arm candy’, she said but more to comfort herself.

Lucy shrugged her shoulders,’Maybe. Dylan! How're you kiddo?’

‘Ucy’, Dylan’s face lit up. With Lucy there to look after Dylan, Dana went into bathroom for a shower before her date. Lucy was a mother herself but all her kids were into their teens now. Besides Lucy worked for Dave much longer than she had and was like a matron to the newer girls.

Dana stepped out from the shower, the warm water trickled down her luxurious skin. She felt a bit jittery as Six approached closer, as if it were her first date. First time with a woman though. She’d kissed other women on stage but that was always for the show and nothing serious. This is kinda like a show too. I just gotta perform and deliver, that’s all. She dried her hair slowly, with still twenty more minutes to Six and if Lyn was anything like Dave, she’d be here on the dot. She chose a sleeveless top and a tight pair of jeans and wore just a little make up, a touch of pink lipstick and a dark eye liner.

A minute past six, her mobile announced a message. It was from Lynnette.

i m here

She grabbed her clutch bag and rushed out. She stopped in the living room to give Dylan good night kiss.

'Dylan, promise me that you’ll behave. No running away from the food. Ok ,sweetie? And you’ve to be in bed by Eight. Lucy’s gonna read you the Gingerbread Man tonight.'

‘K, mom. Bye.’

'You have a good time girl. Little D's safe with me.'

'Thanks Lucy, bye.' With a hasty hug to Lucy, she went out.

There was a black car by the road. A woman inside beckoned her.

‘Hi, Dana. Hop in.’

‘H..Hi..’, she managed. This is no girl. She’s an Amazon. Lynnette had sleek waist length brunette hair, eye shadow - a smoky black, lips painted red. Her dress was all black and sleek. Looks like leather. The most stunning accessory she wore was a diamond pendant strung in black silk,  resting just above her ample cleavage.

‘Let’s go.’ Lynnette shifted the gear and drove off.

Dana was used to high speed rash driving but it was always a man who was at the wheel. Lynnette speeding like a demon, demoness, made her clutch the dashboard with one hand and the arm hold just above the window with her other till her knuckles turned white. Lynnette didn't seem to notice Dana’s discomfort at all. At least she keeps her eyes on the road.
